PDC Coworking Scholarship Applications - Reminder to Apply

Community is at the root of coworking and strong communities are built on collaboration, diversity and access. In an effort to bring more access to and foster an inclusive coworking community in Portland, the Portland Development Commission and Workfrom have created a scholarship for one lucky attendee of Portland Coworking Week 2015. We’re looking for diverse applicants who are typically underrepresented in the coworking community due to age, gender, ethnicity, race, or other factors.

To apply: answer a few simple questions about who you are and how this scholarship will advance your goals.

We'll hold a random drawing from a pool of the best answers and award a $450 credit towards membership at any of the participating coworking spaces of your choice.

We'll announce the winner at Friday morning's closing session, though you needn't be present to win.

Coffee Shops: America's new Incubators? [Opening Panels w/Coffee and Tea]
Limited Capacity seats available

This discussion panel is a part of our conference track, sponsored by Stephouse Networks.

Coffee shops have been the birthplace of revolutions. Is there a new one brewing? How can coffee shops and coworking spaces collaborate to offer a full suite of options for tomorrow's mobile workforce? Are coffee shops and cafes the unsung incubators of making ideas happen? We'll talk about what businesses experience when providing space, WiFi and amenities for patrons looking to get work done and we'll answer that burning question: how long is too long when getting work done at a local coffee shop?

Umpqua Community Office Hours 9am - 4pm

Our version of a skill share: post up at Umpqua's beautiful Fox Tower location and invite the community to hit you up for advice, help or inspiring conversation. Did you know their free community space has a coworking-friendly lounge, conference rooms ... and cookies?

If you'd like to broadcast your office hours, fill out this short form and we'll add you to the roster so others can swing by and visit.

More about this Umpqua Location, from an interview with Workfrom:

What makes your space great for getting work done?
Quiet, comfortable conversation can be enjoyed throughout the space, and anyone in the community can host a private meeting and reserve a conference room, equipped with Skype-enabled flat screens, laptop connectors, and floor-to-ceiling, magnetized dry erase boards. In fact, the entire store can be reserved before or after hours for special events. A giant projector screen is available for presentations to larger audiences.

Additional amenities include complimentary wifi, charging cables, wireless printing, Umpqua’s signature coffee, and an assortment of Smith Tea.

Why do you feel it’s important to support our community of high-mobility workers, students and independent professionals?
We support creativity and entrepreneurship, and want to offer a space where those things can happen. Every business and every idea starts small, and needs a lot of love to grow. We want to help.

PDC Coworking Scholarship Applications - Deadline to Apply
Community is at the root of coworking and strong communities are built on collaboration, diversity and access. In an effort to bring more access to and foster an inclusive coworking community in Portland, the Portland Development Commission and Workfrom have created a scholarship for one lucky attendee of Portland Coworking Week 2015. We’re looking for diverse applicants who are typically underrepresented in the coworking community due to age, gender, ethnicity, race, or other factors.

To apply: answer a few simple questions about who you are and how this scholarship will advance your goals.

We'll hold a random drawing from a pool of the best answers received before 1:30pm on Thursday Aug 6 and award a $450 credit towards membership at any of the participating coworking spaces of your choice.

We'll announce the winner at Friday morning's closing session, though you needn't be present to win.
